Aikido at RED SAMURAI AIKIDO
Our Aikido Classes are for people 13 years of age and over, with younger ages being assessed on a case by case basis.
Our classes are focused on teaching practical self-protection based solutions in a modern world, with techniques designed to disable without causing lasting damage.
Competitive arts usually teach combat against a single assailant, with rules and boundaries in place. While often referred to as 'Reality-based', this can often breed a false sense of security among those who practice them. At RED SAMURAI AIKIDO we teach you to deal with opponents coming from any direction, often wielding weapons, in any environment.
Our classes are for Men and Women, Young or Old. Aikdio can be practiced by people of any ability level. As with anything, there are definite advantages to beginning Aikido as early as you can. However, people of all ages practice Aikido all around the world. Unlike many other arts though, the best practitioners tend to be those of advanced years.
Our philosophy toward combat is simple: If it can be avoid, avoid it. If it can't, finish it. Aikido Is designed to contain and control an aggressor (or multiple aggressors,) in a controlled and often painful manner that leaves no permanent injury. Given that we now live in a world where every person has a camera at all times, using little if any striking in our Aikido Technique does not lead toward there being questionable images of you when you are in a situation of self protection.
In Aikido we control the situation with no aggressive action. Some say that the best defence is a good attack. This is wrong, and will end you up in front of a Judge. The best defence is a good defence. Ask any soldier if he would rather attack a position or defend it. The defender always has the advantage.
If you are interested in starting Aikido, or just have some questions you would like answered, please feel free to contact us, and one of our senior club members will be happy to help you in any way that they can.
